Bank of Uganda
We are the Central Bank of Uganda. We are 100% owned by the Government of Uganda, but we are not
a government department. Although we conduct our activities in close association with the
Ministry of
Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED), we are autonomous body responsible for
monetary policy and maintaining price stability.

Bank of Uganda was established in 1966, under Article 162(2) of the Uganda Constitution (amended
