The Governor of Bank of Uganda (2001 to date)

Mr. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile had been the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to Treasury in the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development  between 1992-2000. He was appointed as the 9th Governor of Bank of Uganda on 11  January 2001. After serving his five-year term that ended on January 11, 2006 he was re-appointed to serve another five year term as Governor of Bank of Uganda.

He has worked as a consultant for the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Macroeconomic and Financial Management Institute  of Eastern and Central Africa (MEFMI), UK Department for International Cooperation, the North South Institute Canada and for the Governments of Rwanda, Tanzania, Eritrea, Kenya and Nepal.

Governor Mutebile is widely traveled, throughout Africa, Europe, United States, Latin America, Japan, Cine, India, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. He has lectured  extensively on Financial Stabilization and Economic  Structural Adjustment and has written numerous articles on Economic Development some of which have been published in Academic Journals. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Uganda since April 1992 ans is a Fellow of the Economic Development Institute of The World Bank.

During a breakfast meeting organised by the Makerere University Private Sector Forum (MUPSF, the Vice Chancellor of Makerere University announced the appointment of Mr. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile (with 3 others) as an honorary professor of the University. He was attached to the faculty of Economics and Management of Makerere University.
